The Highlands and the Hawks

Our stay in the northern Highlands was an experience in the friendliness of the people and the vast expanse of the area.     We were staying in a seaside village at Gill’s beautiful home.       The highlight of our days here is when Gill allowed me to see her Harris Hawk and her other hawk (I’m sorry, I don’t remember the species)     What beautiful birds…

Dunnet point is the northern most point of mainland Britian.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s grandfather designed this lighthouse against the odds and elements.      Visits to this and other northern lighthouses designed by his grandfather are thought to have inspired his later books  Kidnapped and Treasure Island.

 .

Tomorrow we leave this northern area.    We'll spend a couple days exploring before heading to Edinburgh.
