Seefeld

We got up early to catch the train to another mountain resort town, Seefeld.     It was recommended by the young couple from Chicago that we met yesterday.     This town is the epitome of the storybook Austrian ski town.

We did a walk around the lake.    It was so peaceful and beautiful.    I think the highlight for me, though, was the area where there was snow on the bogs and many ducks were swimming.

Although Innsbruck hosted the winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976, some of the events were held in Seefeld.    (Biathalon, Cross-country skiing, Nordic Combined and Ski jumping - normal hill)   The Olympic Museum was closed (it is November, after all) but we saw one of the villages, the start and end of the cross country course, etc.     Most of the courses used in the Olympics are still being used for other international winter games.

A church in the center of town

This is a small chapel on the second floor.

The ceiling in this small chapel.

The organ in the main part of the church was beautifully done.

A few more examples of architecture

View from the train

A perfect day trip.....

  1. Are there any places not pretty there? Everything looks like something out of a fairy tale story.
